The victory left the Longhorns first among the Pasadena ISD teams as a playoff contender in District 22-6A. Dobie stands 2-2 in district play and 2-4 overall with key contests against Pearland Dawson and Alvin the next two weeks.

The Trojans slipped to 2-3 in district play and 2-4 overall.

South Houston treated a homecoming crowd to a pair of short first-quarter field goals by Rudy Marban. But the Trojans couldn’t come up with an answer for Dobie running back Rashaad Randall.

Randall piled up 196 yards on the ground on 30 carries – and accounted for all three Longhorn TDs, including one through the air.

The Longhorns took control slowly, first on a 32-yard field goal by Alexis Saldivor that cut South Houston’s lead to 6-3 early in the second quarter. Dobie didn’t take its first lead until the 3:45 mark of the second quarter when Randall scampered 20 yards into the end zone after pocketing a pass from Joe Gonzalez.

Randall scored on an 11-yard run with just 21 seconds in the half to propel the Longhorns to a 17-6 lead at intermission.

The Trojans pulled to within four points early in the second half when quarterback Tatum Girdy connected with R.J. Maddox on a 25-yard scoring strike. But Randall countered with a 14-yard TD run late in the third quarter ahead of a scoreless fourth quarter.
