Garcia staked Alvin to a 14-0 lead with TD runs of 23 and 46 yards in the game’s first 13 minutes.

The Mavericks rebounded on a 49-yard TD pass from Israel Trevino to Nicholas Fuselier. The PAT was blocked, but Memorial was presented with another opportunity minutes later when Kevin Upchurch returned an Alvin fumble 73 yards to the Jackets’ 10.

Alvin’s defense managed to hold Memorial to a 22-yard field goal by Jesus Dozal.

The Jackets then stretched their lead to 21-9 at halftime on a 4-yard TD pass from Andrew Silguero to Jerry Dickens.

The teams tacked on two TDs each in the third quarter, leaving Alvin with a 35-23 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The clincher came with 10:24 left in the game when Alvin's Gunner Olszewski returned a Mavericks punt 83 yards for a TD, enabling the Jackets to hike their advantage to 42-23.

Trevino recorded his third and fourth TD passes of the game in the remaining time. He found Fuselier from 29 yards and with 42 seconds left in the game connected with Jacob Zapata on a 70-yard strike.

Garcia’s 306 yards came on 31 carries.

Trevino completed only seven passes, four of which went for TDs. He totaled 224 yards through the air.

The teams combined for 876 total yards and 37 first downs.

Memorial stands 0-4 in District 22-6A play and 0-6 overall. Alvin is 2-1 in district play and 2-3 overall.
