5469Pasadena High School, the Pasadena ISD’s oldest, will open its doors to alumni again on Friday in observance of the school’s homecoming celebration.

Following up on last year’s revival of an open house event for homecoming, Pasadena High student council members will conduct tours of the school for visiting alumni from noon until 1:45 p.m., when all campus guests will be welcomed to the Eagles’ homecoming pep rally.

Dobie will provide the opposition for Pasadena High’s homecoming game at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Student council members will receive a historical tour of the school that morning before the alumni arrive. All will be versed on the history of the school and campus changes over the years, information they’ll be able to pass on to their guests.

Students will lead tours to specific areas of the campus of interest to specific groups of alumni, such as the science wing and career tech facilities. All tour groups will visit the Hancock Library, named after former principal Tom Hancock, and the auditorium. Tours will wrap up in the cafeteria, where alumni will be served refreshments and have the opportunity to purchase items in the school store.

There is no charge for the open house.

Alumni are encouraged to participate in the “Green Out the Game” campaign for the football contest that night. As part of the festivities, the PHS Alumni Choir will perform under the direction of current PHS choir director Paula Knight.

Alumni are also invited to a post-game party at Jimmy Changas restaurant in Pasadena. Those attending are urged to arrive before the restaurant’s 10 p.m. closing time.
