Defense and great pitching dominated the game as the Lady Mavs were held scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when outfielder Maricruz Martinez’s (15) bunt brought in Regan Gallagher (7) from third base.

In the top of the eighth, the Lady Mav’s bats came alive as they loaded the bases for Maria Andrade (00) with no outs. Andrade responded with a two-run RBI single past the shortstop into left field. Memorial stretched the lead to 5-1 with two more RBI singles by Gallagher (7) and Martinez (15) before the inning ended.

With one last chance to tie or win the game, Northshore was unable to capitalize due to Memorial’s relief pitcher Hanna Garca’s (9) three strikeouts to seal the win for the Lady Mavs.

The Lady Mavs play game one of a three game series against Clear Creek Friday, May 5 at 5 p.m. at Clear Creek high school and game two 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
