Our Mission

The primary purpose of the Pasadena Social Studies Curriculum Department is to foster in students habits of body and mind that enable them to become rational, participating citizens in a democratic society within an increasingly complex, diverse, and interdependent world.
We believe social studies involves students in a systematic study of history, geography, economics, society, and government.
Social studies empowers students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and participating members of local, state, national, and global communities.

Our Curriculum

Our social studies scope and sequence and supporting curriculum documents are based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and are designed to promote meaningful learning experiences for all students. Through the social studies curriculum students will learn about their city and state and what makes for a good citizen.  The curriculum will primarily focus on literacy integration and the building of life long learners.
