Kevin Berneathy was named the new J. Frank Dobie head football coach during a recent special called meeting of the Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees.

Berneathy served as the offensive coordinator at Angleton High School for the last three years where he helped lead the Wildcats to a 13-1 record and a 5A Division I Region 4 Championship in 2017.

With over 10 years of coaching experience, he has also served as an offensive coordinator at La Marque High School, a defensive line coach at Dickinson High School and an offensive line coach at La Porte High School.

Berneathy graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Southern Arkansas University in 2006 and earned his master’s degree in 2009 from Lamar University.

“Coach Berneathy has a great pedigree in coaching,” said PISD Athletic Director Rupert Jaso. “We are really excited about the vision and brand of football he is bringing to PISD and Dobie.”

As head football coach of the Longhorns, Berneathy will also serve as the campus athletic coordinator and work with all Dobie coaches to ensure success in all athletic programs.

“Coach Kevin Berneathy’s passion, energy and knowledge of the game is impressive, along with his desire to develop our players into excellent student-athletes and outstanding young men,” said Dobie Principal Franklin Moses. “We are excited about the future of Longhorn football.”
