Megan Medina and Gabrielle Creagh, both teachers at Melillo Middle school, volunteered to represent their campus by presenting at the 2021 National Schools to Watch Conference.

Over 600 schools from across the nation virtually attended the event this June.

Each “School to Watch” is required to present at least once every three years as part of their commitment to the program.  These presentations are meant to empower educators across the nation to strengthen their classroom skills and help students get the most of their classroom experience.

Melillo Middle School Principal, Diane Wheeler said this about the pair “We are very proud and honored that these two dynamic teachers presented at the national conference.”

Medina presented on Google Slides and Jamboard use in the classroom. Google Jamboard is an interactive 55-inch digital whiteboard for classrooms that assists with collaboration with students and builds a class community.

Creagh presented on Nearpod, a product used in Melillo classrooms. Her session taught educators how to embed Nearpod’s interactive activities within Google Slides to create lessons in which students can interact with classroom content.  Nearpod turns everyday lessons into interactive ones keeping students engaged.

Wheeler added, “They (Medina and Creagh) are true leaders on campus and are always willing to share their wealth of knowledge with others.”
