The Harris County Department of Education's Center for Afterschool, Summer, and Enrichment (CASE) for Kids Program recognized Pasadena ISD site coordinator, Susan Blue, for “Outstanding leadership by an after school site coordinator at the 2022 Spirit of Excellence Awards and Recognition event.

The award celebrates Blue’s excellence in developing a high quality program at Frazier Elementary over the last 16 years. "I've worked to build a quality program where kids would be excited to spend their after-school hours learning and having fun in a safe and loving environment. To be recognized for that is an absolute honor,” said Blue after receiving her award.

Blue was among 7 other Houston educators who were highlighted by CASE for Kids which is a branch of the Harris County Education Department that provides resources, training, and funding to programs for students.

“I was not surprised she received this award.. She is amazing”, said Kristina Ponce, assistant principal at Frazier Elementary.

“She is constantly looking to find new ways to keep students engaged and has brought in afterschool programs such as Cooking, Hip-Hop Dance, and Fencing... We are lucky to have her, and are so happy she is being recognized,” said Ponce.
