Dobie Band Director selected as quarterfinalist for GRAMMY Music Educator Award Kevin Erickson, Dobie High School band director, has been selected as a quarterfinalist for the 2021 GRAMMY Music Educator Award.

Out of 2000 nominees, Erickson is among 216 music educators from around the country who were selected as quarterfinalists.

“To be considered for this award is a tremendous honor and I’m incredibly proud to represent Dobie High School, Pasadena ISD and our community,” said Erickson. “This is definitely a reflection of the incredible music education programs we have here in Pasadena ISD. I absolutely have to thank all my students, past and present, for continuing to inspire me to be a better teacher, leader and human being.”

The Music Educator Award was established to recognize public and private school educators who have made a significant and lasting contribution to music education. Additionally, the award recognizes educators who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in schools.

Semifinalists for the award will be announced in September 2020 and from those, one recipient will be selected to receive the award. If Erickson is selected as the winner, he will be flown to Los Angeles to attend the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, along with other GRAMMY Week events.
